✨ What's new in METRE
- 🗳️ Categories that update themselves — the row above the polls now shows only categories with live polls, with counts, so no more empty category pages.
- 🏙️ New cities, fixed ward labels — switching cities no longer shows the previous city's wards, and the leaderboard follows your city.
- 🎨 A bolder METRE mark — the thicker M from your pick, built to read as an app icon.
- 📱 Slimmer mobile menu — just Suggest and Change Location, since navigation lives in the tab strip.

How METRE Works
METRE is a privacy-first, hyper-local sentiment layer that measures what your actual neighbourhood, campus, and city block care about. Here is everything you need to know about navigating the platform, our anonymous zero-knowledge voting, and how to activate your city.
Why Don't I See My City Yet?
Traditional social apps launch in 10,000 cities on day one, resulting in empty ghost towns with zero replies. METRE uses a Progressive Cell Activation Model: we only activate an area once a verified cluster of local neighbours pledges to participate. This ensures that the moment your town goes live, debates are vibrant, responses are real, and your voice actually counts.
The 3-Tier Cell Activation Ladder
- Tier 1 (50 Locals): Unlocks live daily featured voting and opens the regional cluster.
- Tier 2 (150 Locals): Unlocks the 5km hyper-local ward Consensus Zone.
- Tier 3 (500 Locals): Full community autonomy with resident poll publishing and municipal/BIA telemetry export.
Can I Still Vote If My Town Isn't Live?
YES! You are never locked out. Even if your local 5km cell is still gathering pledges, you have full access to all All-Ontario Province-Wide debates. You earn ⚡ PULSE tokens on every vote, build daily streaks, predict outcomes, and customize your profile while your hometown cell gathers momentum.

Frequently Asked Questions & Site Navigation
🔒 Is my ballot really 100% anonymous?
Yes. METRE uses hardware-backed device attestation (Apple DeviceCheck / Google Play Integrity) to prevent bot farms without storing personal identifying information (PII). We verify your presence within a geographic polygon using zero-knowledge geohash proofs. Your votes are never tied to your name, email, phone number, or exact coordinates.
⚖️ What is the "Consensus Zone"?
Traditional social feeds amplify controversy and extreme viewpoints. METRE does the opposite: our algorithm calculates where 75%+ of opposing local groups or demographic brackets agree, highlighting common ground on local transit, zoning, and street safety.
⚡ What are PULSE tokens and how do I earn them?
PULSE is our in-platform engagement currency. You earn tokens by voting on polls (+10), building daily voting streaks (+15 to +50), staking predictions on community outcomes (2.5x payout), and setting your anonymous age bracket (+25). Weekly quests, achievements, and daily voting streaks also pay PULSE and XP toward your Civic Standing. You can spend PULSE in the Color Studio to unlock custom palettes, resident flairs, and voting stamps.
🧭 How do I change my distance radius?
Click the location pill at the top of the header (or the distance toggles in the toolbar) to zoom between Street Level (500m), My Ward (5km), City-Wide (15km), and All-Ontario (35km+).
🎓 Why do you ask for an age demographic bracket?
We never ask for your birthdate. Selecting an anonymous broad bracket (18–24, 25–39, 40–54, 55+) awards you +25 ⚡ PULSE and allows our engine to reveal cross-generational consensus (e.g. showing when students and older homeowners share the same stance on local transit).
💡 How do I pitch a community question?
Click the orange Suggest Idea button in the top navigation. Once an idea gathers 25+ resident upvotes from locals in your area, community moderators elevate it into an official consensus poll.
💡 Community Ideas & Questions Community Backlog
Have a fun or interesting question for your neighbours? Share it here! Once an issue receives 25+ resident upvotes, civic moderators elevate it into an official consensus poll.

About METRE.
METRE (metrepulse.com) was born in Ontario to solve a fundamental crisis in modern community life: the total collapse of local common ground. While global social media rewards polarizing outrage, METRE measures verifiable consensus at the actual neighbourhood, ward, and municipal level.
Hyper-Local Geofencing
Ballots and sentiments are tied to real Ontario wards and municipal geohashes. Outside online mobs and distant bots cannot manipulate or flood local decisions.
Zero-Knowledge Privacy
We never store government IDs, names, or phone numbers. We use cryptographic inclusion proofs to verify that a voter belongs to an area without revealing who they are.
Hardware Sybil Resistance
Using Apple DeviceCheck and Google Play Integrity cryptographic attestation, we enforce strictly 1 Human = 1 Vote per device. No multi-account sockpuppets.
The Consensus Engine
We don't amplify fringe 50/50 arguments. Our algorithm calculates "What We All Agree On" — identifying 75%+ cross-demographic consensus to give city hall actionable signal.
⚙️ How METRE works
🍁 Built in Ontario, for Ontario
METRE is developed by a dedicated team of Ontario civic engineers, urban planning researchers, and community advocates based across Mississauga, York Region, and Toronto. We believe local governance functions best when residents have a verifiable, constructive channel to find common ground on transit, housing, school safety, and public amenities.
Executive Brief & Roadmap
